Gregory M. George Announces Retirement from Capital Ballet Theatre

Longtime Artistic Director will choreograph his last Nutcracker in the fall of 2018

Gregory M. GeorgeAfter more than 20 years as the Artistic Director of Capital Ballet Theatre, Gregory M. George has announced his retirement following CBT’s signature production of The Nutcracker, which will take place Thanksgiving Weekend 2018 at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts.

During his longtime tenure as the Artistic Director, Greg has trained hundreds of dancers and choreographed over 200 performances for Mid-Michigan audiences to enjoy. He has a well-earned reputation as a respected dancer, teacher and choreographer in Mid-Michigan and beyond. Some of his favorite productions include Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Gaite Parisienne and Alice in Wonderland.

CBT and Greg have been synonymous for many years. We are forever grateful for his leadership and loyalty to CBT and for the spectacular shows he brought to life. He will be greatly missed by our CBT family.

A search is underway to name a new Artistic Director that will continue to provide the current level of performances CBT is known for producing.

After Mr. George retires, he and his wife, Jan, will be dedicating their time and efforts on their business, JAG Builders.

We will miss you, Greg!
