Children’s Miracle Network

The Children’s Ballet Theatre, (CBT) began its community service project supporting Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) in 2009. Children with physical limitations were first invited to join the CBT dancers for the Nutcracker production that fall, as representatives for CMN. Because of the wonderful feedback from the CMN Guest Dancers, their parents, members of CBT and the local community, the program has continued as an ongoing mission of inclusion and advocacy while building confidence for the CMN Guest Dancers. Audience members are able to appreciate how local CMN hospitals and supported services like those through University of Michigan Health -Sparrow,  make dreams come true for children benefitting from programs funded by CMN. This may include critical treatments, pediatric medical equipment, upgraded facilities and increased awareness of pediatric health issues.

While the CMN Guest Dancers learn about the rigors of a pre- professional ballet company from CBT, the CBT members learn much from the CMN Guest Dancers as well. Lifelong lessons have been realized and friendships have been developed. Together, the children dance side by side, with CMN Guest Dancers proving that inspiration to be a performer comes from the heart!
